The President of the Irbid Chamber of Commerce, Muhammad Al-Shouha, confirmed that the housing sector is one of the vital and promising sectors that constitute an important tributary in the national economic system, noting that the recovery of this sector reflects positively on more than 40 professions and crafts that overlap in its work, in addition to its direct impact in providing permanent and seasonal job opportunities for young people.
This came during a meeting held by Al-Shouha at the Chamber’s headquarters with a member of the Housing Sector Investors Association, Zaid Al-Tamimi, and in the presence of a member of the Board of Directors of the Irbid Chamber of Commerce, Raed Al-Qar’an, to discuss and discuss the most prominent issues and challenges facing real estate and residential investment in the governorate.
Al-Shouha added that Irbid Governorate, with its vast area and population growth, deserves more attention and support, especially in the field of the housing sector, calling for simplifying official procedures in dealing with investor issues, with the aim of reducing unemployment rates and revitalizing the local economic movement. He stated that the housing sector has proven highly flexible and steadfast in the face of successive crises, especially the Corona pandemic, which today calls for serious work to address all the problems and challenges that stand in the way of its stability and growth to ensure that it continues to achieve sustainable development.
For his part, a member of the Housing Sector Investors Association, Zaid Al-Tamimi, reviewed the most prominent challenges facing the housing sector at the present time, pointing out that this vital sector employs large numbers of local workers as it is linked to several broad economic and construction fields, which makes it an essential driver of the wheel of operation.
Al-Tamimi explained that among the most important challenges that hinder the development of the sector are the long period of completing transactions, the multiplicity of regulatory and supervisory bodies, in addition to the increasing rise in the prices of basic materials and construction costs, in addition to the need to open new regulatory areas and provide them with the necessary infrastructure to meet the growing demand for housing in the governorate.
In turn, a member of the Chamber of Commerce, Raed Al-Quran, stressed the importance of true partnership and joint coordination to overcome obstacles facing investors, pointing out that the Chamber is putting all its capabilities into cooperation with partners to facilitate procedures and improve the services provided to the commercial and investment sector in Irbid.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the attendees stressed the need to continue working closely with all relevant governmental and local authorities, to overcome these obstacles and establish flexible work mechanisms that ensure the facilitation of transactions, which contributes to restoring the housing sector to its health and its leadership role in advancing the national economy and local development.
