He National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology issued its weather forecast for this Wednesday, April 22, 2026.
For this day, partly cloudy skies are expected in the Coastwith rains and storms in inland areas, especially towards the night, as established for towns such as Quevedo and Santo Domingo, where rainfall is anticipated at different times of the day, while in cities such as Guayaquil rains are expected in the early morning and at night with intervals of partially cloudy skies in the morning and afternoon. In Esmeraldas, Manta and Santa Elena, conditions of variable cloudiness with less frequency of rain will predominate.
In the Interandean region Variable sky conditions are expected for much of the day, with the presence of cloudiness and isolated rains in the afternoon and evening hours in cities such as Quito, Latacunga and Ambato, while in sectors such as Ibarra and Tulcán there will be intervals of sunshine with increasing cloudiness towards the end of the day.
For the Amazon Rains with storms are expected in several parts of the region, with greater intensity during the afternoon and night, as expected in areas such as Nueva Loja, El Coca and Tena, where rainfall accompanied by electrical shocks is anticipated, while in other locations intermittent rains will be recorded.
In the Island region Cloudy skies will persist with rain at different times of the day, more frequently in the afternoon and at night, in accordance with what is established for islands such as San Cristóbal and Santa Cruz.
About the temperatureon the Coast values are expected between 22°C and 33°C; in the Inter-Andean region between 4 °C and 25 °C; in the Amazon between 16 °C and 34 °C; and in the Island region between 24 °C and 33 °C.
