The spokesman of Panjsher governor, Saifuddin Sokh, told Bakhtar News Agency that in today’s auction, 3,297 carats of freshly mined emeralds were sold to domestic traders worth 198,370 US dollars.
According to him, for the first time, 13 examples of green garnet precious stones were sold for 250 US dollars.
Maulvi Mohammad Qasim Amiri, head of mines and petroleum of the said province, said that this tender was held in the presence of the members of the mine protection committee and according to the new order of the Islamic Emirate, the distribution of licenses for the extraction of 66 types of minerals, precious and semi-precious stones has also started, which will provide the basis for the development of investment, business and work opportunities.
It is worth mentioning that, according to the officials, in the last three years, around 15,000 people have been directly and indirectly employed through Panjshir’s emerald, baruj, silver and green garnet mines, and hundreds of young people have started trading in precious stones.
