The Taliban in Badghis province have imprisoned a teenage girl for not agreeing to a forced marriage.
Local sources say that this girl has been in the Taliban prison in Badghis for two years now.
This girl, Bibi Siddiqa, is from the Turkmen tribe and a resident of Morichag village, Balamorghab district, Badghis province.
According to the published documents, a man named Khoda Nazar, who is a member of the Taliban, claimed that he married Bibi Siddiqa with the consent of her father.
But Siddiqa denied this claim and said that her father was under pressure from God.
According to local sources, this case has been going on for five years. The Taliban primary court in Balamurghab decided the case in favor of Bibi Siddiqa, but God Nazar did not accept this ruling and filed a complaint with the Taliban court in Kandahar.
Sources say that the Taliban court in Kandahar has issued a verdict in favor of Khoda Nazar. In this way, the Taliban officials have told Siddiqa that she will either marry Khoda Nazar or she will remain in prison until she accepts this marriage.
According to sources, Bibi Siddiqa has just turned 17 years old.
