The Association of Venezuelans in Guatemala (Asovegua), an organization that coordinates humanitarian support actions for the Venezuelan community in the country, began a campaign to collect medical supplies and non-perishable food for people affected by the earthquakes registered in Venezuela.
The initiative has the support of the United States, which will facilitate the air transportation of donations from Guatemala to Miami and, later, to Venezuela, as part of a humanitarian bridge.
This is the first phase of the campaign and will remain open from this Thursday, June 25, until Saturday, June 27.
Asovegua called on individuals, companies, non-profit organizations and institutions that wish to contribute with donations.
Items needed include:
- Pain relievers and antipyretics, such as paracetamol or acetaminophen and ibuprofen
- Dressing material: sterile gauze, bandages, Micropore tape, dressings, cotton and sutures
- Antibiotic creams for wounds
- Ointments for burns and healing
- Over-the-counter antidiarrheals and antacids
- Disposable gloves
- Face mask
- Digital thermometers
Liquids are not accepted.
Asovegua recalled that each contribution can contribute to caring for families affected by the emergency.

Emergency in Venezuela
According to official information, the two earthquakes of magnitude 7.2 and 7.5 left hundreds dead, thousands injured and severe material damage in Caracas and the state of La Guaira. Search and rescue efforts are supported by international brigades from nine countries.
The Guatemalan Red Cross also expressed its solidarity with the Venezuelan Red Cross and maintains a donation mechanism enabled to support the international humanitarian response.
