Dr Didacus Jules will continue at the helm of the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) after securing a fourth term as Director General, with regional leaders reaffirming their confidence in his leadership and vision for deeper integration across the Eastern Caribbean.
The decision was made during the 78th Meeting of the OECS Authority, where Heads of Government also commended Dr Jules for his contributions to regional development, cooperation and institutional strengthening during his tenure.
Since taking office in 2014, Dr Jules has led initiatives aimed at advancing food sovereignty, digital transformation, healthier communities and education reform, while strengthening the OECS’s ability to respond to emerging challenges and opportunities facing member states.
Announcing the reappointment, former Chairman of the OECS Authority and Prime Minister of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Dr Godwin Friday, said: “The [reappointment] decision reflects the confidence of the Authority in your leadership and acknowledges your valuable contribution to the advancement of the OECS integration agenda and the continued strengthening of the Organisation. On behalf of the OECS Authority, I extend sincere congratulations on your reappointment and look forward to your continued service and dedication to the people and Governments of the OECS Member States.”
The OECS Authority said experienced leadership remains critical as the organisation navigates an increasingly complex geopolitical environment and works towards its vision of a more integrated, resilient and prosperous region.
The OECS Commission also congratulated Dr Jules on his reappointment, saying it looks forward to continuing to work with him to deliver meaningful benefits for citizens across OECS member states.
