The security protocols at the Argyle International Airport (AIA) are being questioned after a traveller at the Toronto Pearson International Airport was nabbed with over 15 kilograms of cocaine.
According to the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), on June 10, 2026, border services officers seized the drugs from a traveller arriving from St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG). The cocaine was hidden inside the passenger’s suitcase. The individual was arrested and handed over to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police along with the cocaine.
This incident follows a pattern of recent drug enforcement actions at the Toronto Pearson International Airport, where border officials have repeatedly intercepted significant quantities of cocaine smuggled inside luggage arriving on flights from the Caribbean region.
If convicted, the drug mule faces a prison sentence ranging from five to 12 years, depending on the offender’s criminal history and organizational role. In actual court practice, large-scale commercial importation schemes (like smuggling 15 kilograms through an airport) generally yield federal prison time.
