Emphasizing the country’s non-military participation in the war against Iran, the Prime Minister of Italy announced an agreement with the French President to create a new coalition to support Lebanon after the end of the mission of the United Nations Peacekeeping Forces (UNIFIL).
According to Al-Nashrah, the Prime Minister of Italy, Giorgia Meloni, in a statement while clarifying that her country does not play a military role in regional tensions, announced that Italy did not have any direct participation in the war against Iran.
He clarified that Italy’s presence in this field was only limited to providing technical and logistic support.
Referring to his consultations with French President Emmanuel Macron, Meloni announced the agreement between the two countries to form an international coalition, the aim of which is to support the stability of Lebanon in the era after the end of the United Nations Peacekeeping Forces (UNIFEL) mission.
At the end of a meeting in Antibes, French President Emmanuel Macron emphasized the necessity of forming a multinational coalition. This initiative, which is supposed to be implemented after the end of the mission of the United Nations forces in Lebanon (UNIFIL), is pursued with the aim of consolidating Lebanon’s national sovereignty.
In describing this plan, the French president stated: “We plan to launch a coalition around the mechanism of activities after the UNIFIL mission, in coordination with the European Union and the United Nations.” The main goal of this action is to strengthen the sovereignty of Lebanon and the capability of the armed forces of this country to prevent the Lebanese soil from becoming a platform for regional tensions.
