More than 200 birds smeared with oil have been rescued off the coast of the Russian resort of Anapa, in the Black Seaaccording to local authorities.
Emergency services believe the birds landed on an oil spill located about 11 kilometers from the coast in the Krasnodar region.
The authorities suspect that the cause of the spill is the continuous Ukrainian attacks with assault drones against oil tankers plying the Black and Azov seas.
Specialists from the Zhemchuzhnaya (Pearl) animal rehabilitation center in Anapa are trying to save the lives of birds, images of which they published on their channel. Telegram. In them you can see the birds completely blackened in cardboard boxes.
In addition, the collaborators of said center asked the residents of the region not only for water and hygiene products, but also for volunteers to clean the birds, which do not stop arriving at their facilities.
In the midst of a strong storm, two Russian oil tankers capsized in December 2024 in the Kerch Strait that separates the Azov from the Black Sea and spilled thousands of tons of oil products into its waters.
