KUWAIT CITY, Jun 26: Kuwait authorities have arrested a Bangladeshi expatriate in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh after intercepting a shipment containing narcotics as part of a joint operation by the General Administration for Drug Control and the General Administration of Customs.
The Ministry of Interior said security teams identified a suspicious shipment arriving through a shipping company and set up an operation that led to the suspect’s arrest while he was receiving the package. A search of the shipment revealed 80 papers soaked in a narcotic chemical substance, while a search of the suspect’s residence uncovered seven additional papers containing the same substance.
Investigations revealed that the suspect was allegedly receiving instructions from an individual based in an Asian country to collect the narcotics and distribute them to users at various locations.
Authorities said further action was being coordinated through international security cooperation channels, and the suspect along with the seized items had been referred to the relevant authorities for legal proceedings.
The Ministry of Interior reaffirmed that security campaigns against drug trafficking networks will continue in order to prevent narcotics from entering Kuwait and protect society from drug-related crimes.
