More than 114 thousand square meters of asphalt maintenance increases the efficiency of the infrastructure in Al-Bayda
The Municipality of Al Bayda Governorate carried out extensive work within the project to maintain and treat potholes and sidewalks in the governorate for the years 2024-2026 AD, as part of its ongoing efforts to raise the efficiency of infrastructure, improve the quality of roads and sidewalks, and enhance the level of traffic safety and municipal services provided to the population.
The official spokesman for the Eastern Province Secretariat, Director General of the General Administration of Information, Faisal Al-Zahrani, explained that the project achieved high completion rates until the end of May 2026, and is being implemented according to a timetable aimed at raising the efficiency of the road and sidewalk network, addressing distortions, and enhancing traffic safety elements in various parts of the governorate.
He pointed out that the project resulted in the implementation of more than 53,000 square meters of deep closure works to maintain the asphalt layers, in addition to more than 47,000 square meters of surface closures to treat damaged sites, and the completion of maintenance work using smart heating technology on an area of 14,000 square meters.
Al-Zahrani stated that the municipality carried out maintenance on 6,653 square meters of sidewalks with colored interlocking tiles, in addition to maintaining and developing more than 22,000 square meters of sidewalks and central islands using reinforced concrete and sidewalk tiles, in addition to maintaining and restoring more than 17,000 linear meters of curbs, and removing damaged parts of them, which contributes to improving the urban landscape and raising the quality of public facilities.
He added that the project work also included enhancing traffic safety elements through maintaining and painting speed bumps with an area of more than 5,500 square metres, adjusting the levels of 115 inspection rooms and rain traps, and maintaining 397 directional signs and traffic safety devices, which included modification, cleaning and painting work, in addition to carrying out painting of curbs with a length of more than 57 thousand metres.
He stressed that the project includes processing reports received regarding potholes in streets and roads and responding to them on the ground, as many maintenance and remediation works were carried out during the month of May, which contributes to improving the quality of roads, raising the level of traffic safety, and enhancing residents’ satisfaction with the municipal services provided.
Al-Zahrani stated that these efforts are an extension of the objectives of the Eastern Province Municipality’s strategy aimed at developing infrastructure, improving the quality of life, addressing visual distortions, and upgrading the urban landscape, in line with the objectives of urban development and creating a safer and more comfortable environment for the residents of the governorate.
