The national team of Portugal defeated the national team of Uzbekistan 5-0 in group K on Tuesday. Cristiano Ronaldo he became the best scorer of the Lusitanians at the World Cup.
Portugal put pressure on the Uzbek defense from the opening minutes of the match in Houston and, in the 6th minute, Cristiano Ronaldo beat Nematov from Cancelo’s cross to open the scoring and become the first player in history to score in six different World Cup finals.
The 17th minute increased the score, Nuno Mendes scoring from a free kick.
The Uzbeks sent the ball into the net in the 29th minute through Ganiev, but the goal was disallowed for an attacking foul.
The Lusitanians’ answer came after ten minutes, when Cristiano Ronaldo set the half-time score with a shot from the box. All CR 7 was close to a triple in the sixth minute of overtime of the first part, but the ball was deflected off the goal line. Ronaldo came close to a goal in the 57th minute when goalkeeper Nematov denied, but the Uzbek goalkeeper put the ball into the net, succeeding the own goal that put the fourth goal on the table for the Portuguese in the 60th minute. Nematov made up for his mistakes in the 74th minute when he saved Ronaldo’s shot, but Rafa Leao closed the scoreboard in the 87th minute and Portugal – Uzbekistan finished 5-0.
The Lusitanians lead Group K with 4 points, while Uzbekistan is last with no points from two matches.
