Japanese business representatives have expressed interest in recruiting skilled manpower from Rajshahi. For this purpose, discussions have been held with Rajshahi regarding increasing cooperation in education, health care, employment, information technology and investment sectors.
A business delegation from Japan paid a courtesy call on Administrator Mahfuzur Rahman Riton at Rajshahi City Corporation (RASIK) Nagar Bhawan on Saturday. At this time, both sides exchanged mutual greetings as well as exchanged views on expanding cooperation in various potential sectors.
During the meeting, Rasik Administrator said that there is a great opportunity to work jointly with Japan for the development of Rajshahi following the approval of the relevant authorities and ministries of the Bangladesh government and following the prevailing laws and regulations. He also expressed hope that communication and cooperation between the two countries will be strengthened in the future.
In the discussion, the Japanese delegates showed special interest in Rajshahi’s skilled and potential manpower. They said that the demand for skilled workers in various sectors is constantly increasing in Japan. In this context, they are positively considering the recruitment of trained and skilled workers from Rajshahi. Besides, fruitful discussions were also held regarding the establishment of ‘sister city’ relationship between the two cities of Japan with Rajshahi City.
Mahfuzur Rahman Riton said, the youth of Rajshahi are talented, hardworking and efficient. They will be able to make important contributions in the international workplace if they are ensured proper training and facilities. He expressed hope that this interest of Japanese business representatives will open up new opportunities for Rajshahi and increase the participation of local manpower in the international labor market.
The issue of Rajshahi’s agriculture-based economy is also important in the discussion. Rasik Administrator said, Rajshahi is one of the mango producing regions of the country. Apart from being appreciated throughout the country, the mangoes here are also in great demand in the international market. If modern cold storage is installed, it will be possible to store mangoes for a long time. This will benefit farmers, agriculturists and traders and expand export opportunities.
After the meeting, the administrator visited the call center and skill development center of Nagar Bhavan. The Japanese delegation included Japan Group CEO Kawamoto Yasuhiro, General Incorporated Association Hummingbird Representative Director Yuta Shigemori, San-San Global Agency CEO Hideki Sakakibara, West Okayama Medical Clinic Executive Director and Handson Land CEO Seiji Ishimoto, and Rajshahi University Marketing Professor Abu Saeed.
At this time, Rasiq’s chief executive officer Rezaul Karim, secretary Sohel Rana, supervising engineer Khairul Baker, supervising engineer (acting) Ahmed Al Moin, chief revenue officer Abu Saleh Md. Noor-e-Sayed and related senior officials were present.
