PALIKIR, Pohnpei — June 25, 2026 — The Office of the President was honored to welcome students and faculty from GEM High School in Ebeye, Republic of the Marshall Islands, during the school’s third educational visit to the Federated States of Micronesia.
The delegation met with Officer-in-Charge, the Honorable Ricky F. Cantero, Secretary of the Department of Foreign Affairs, and participated in an engaging question-and-answer session on the functions of the FSM National Government, the Nation’s history, cultural diversity, and unique governance structure.
Chief of Staff Ms. Yolanda-Joab Mori also conveyed the Office’s sympathy and solidarity with the people of Ebeye following the recent fire, acknowledging the challenges faced by the community and wishing them strength in their recovery.
The visiting delegation expressed appreciation for the opportunity to learn firsthand about the workings of government and the unique structure of the Federated States of Micronesia. The school’s Principal Mr. Noble Ned, noted his admiration for the Nation’s ability to maintain unity among four diverse states, each with its own government, culture, and traditions. “It takes great courage to work together and understand one another,” he remarked.
The visit highlighted the importance of educational exchange, cultural understanding, and the close relationship between the FSM and the Republic of the Marshall Islands.
