The implementation of 4 new projects began within the road axes development program in Riyadh
The Royal Commission for the City of Riyadh announced the launch of the fourth group of the program to develop the main and ring road axes in the city of Riyadh, at a total cost of 9.8 billion riyals. To develop four main roads with a total length of 40 kilometers, including 14 major intersections, 33 bridges, 5 tunnels, and 6 pedestrian bridges, with a total capacity exceeding 950,000 vehicles per day; This contributes to raising the efficiency of the traffic network and enhancing connectivity between parts of the city.
The projects of the fourth group include the development of Sheikh Jaber Al-Sabah Road – the southern part, with a length of 12 kilometers, and includes the implementation of 6 major intersections, 22 bridges and 3 tunnels, with a capacity of up to 350,000 vehicles per day.
It also includes the development of Prince Turki bin Abdulaziz I Road – the central part, with a length of 9 km, and includes 3 main intersections, 6 bridges and two tunnels, with a capacity of 200,000 vehicles per day. The third project includes the development of Prince Mishal bin Abdulaziz Road, with a length of 6 kilometers, and includes the implementation of two main intersections and two bridges, in addition to 4 pedestrian bridges, with a capacity of up to 200,000 vehicles per day. The fourth project includes the development of Najm Al-Din Al-Ayoubi Road – the western part, with a length of 13 kilometres, and includes 3 main intersections, 3 bridges, and two pedestrian bridges, with a capacity of 200,000 vehicles per day.
The launch of this group comes as an extension of the program to develop ring and main road axes, which reflects the integration of long-term planning to develop the road network in the city of Riyadh, and contributes to reducing daily travel time, addressing traffic congestion, raising the efficiency of transportation, and enhancing the quality of life, through developing an interconnected road network that supports urban expansion and enhances Riyadh’s competitiveness as a global city, keeping pace with its preparations to host major events.
