The Canadian police asked residents in the Côte des Neiges neighborhood in Montreal not to go out into the street and take shelter in their homes due to the security situation, and the details of the incident are not yet known.

Canadian media reported that the suspect is still at large, while security forces continue to search and pursue his arrest, while tightening procedures in the area surrounding the incident, but Western media said that the suspect was killed along with two other people.

The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation reported that an officer was injured in Montreal, indicating that there was a major security alert to search for the suspect.

She said that the Côte-des-Neiges police received a report about the presence of an armed and dangerous suspect, which prompted them to raise the level of security alert in the region.

Montreal is the largest city in the province of Quebec and the second largest city in Canada in terms of population, and the city police regularly deal with security reports that require the imposition of a security cordon and the closure of some areas in order to preserve the safety of residents.

The Côte des Neiges neighborhood is known as one of the most densely populated neighborhoods in Montreal, and includes a number of educational institutions and commercial centers, which usually prompts the authorities to take strict precautionary measures when security incidents occur.

In recent years, several Canadian cities have witnessed sporadic shooting incidents, which prompted the authorities to enhance rapid response capabilities and intensify coordination between security agencies when dealing with potential threats.
