The former volleyball representative of our country, Marko Samardžić, is one of the citizens who had serious consequences after the use of a sonic sound suspected to be a sound cannon during a large civil protest in Belgrade on March 15, 2025.
Higher public prosecution in Belgrade in the previous days disclosed the suspicion that the students at the plenums before the big protest allegedly planned how to simulate the use of the “sound cannon” on March 15.
One of the gathered citizens whose health was seriously threatened was Marko Samardzicwinner of six medals with the national team and once the best libero in the world in volleyball.
Samardžić has now spoken out on social media following allegations that students staged the use of a sound cannon.
– I want to speak about everything that has been happening in recent days on the occasion of March 15 last year. I cannot remain silent on the exchange of theses that we are all witnessing. It is difficult for me, as someone who had eight defibrillator shocks after that event and ended up receiving treatment, to present myself today as someone who has to explain and justify what happened to me. That March 15, I, like thousands of other people, experienced a strong shock, after which my defibrillator, pacemaker raged on the sudden jump of the pulse, which was over 300 beats per minute – Samardžić began, then continued:
Volleyball national team player Marko Samardžić, who barely survived the sound cannon, about the government’s attacks that the students simulated the use of the sound cannon.

– Had it not been for four wonderful students who came to my aid and transferred me to the People’s Front, where the medical staff took care of me and provided me with first aid, further treatment would not have taken place. I spent 21 days in the Emergency and Clinical Center. During that period, I had a successful heart ablation and thanks to their knowledge and care, I feel great today.
Samardzic revealed why he felt the need to retell his experience.
– That’s why I feel the responsibility to tell my experience. What I expect, including from the state, is to talk about this event responsibly, with respect for everyone who passed that night in one way or another. It is unacceptable to me that those whose lives were threatened that night should be the ones who have to justify something to someone today. I believe that the truth deserves more than that – concluded Samardžić in a video address.
The former national team player started his senior career in Crvena Zvezda, and after the deterioration of his health, he pointed out how strange it was that he did not receive support from both this club and the Volleyball Federation of Serbia.
– Let’s say, it stung my ears a little, because it didn’t happen that the Volleyball Federation of Serbia did not support me. All clubs are, and the paradox is that Red Star did not support me, the team I spent 15 years in – Marko said in April last year.
