“Thank God, the meeting of the first high-level commission within the framework of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding was successfully completed in Bürgenstock, Switzerland. “The discussions took place in a positive and constructive atmosphere and led to encouraging progress, including agreement on a roadmap to reach a final agreement within 60 days, the establishment of a high-level commission to ensure political oversight and the launch of further technical negotiations,” he said.
Sharif expressed gratitude to all brotherly and friendly countries for their support in advancing this “historic process”, as well as to the United States and Iran, Qatar and the Swiss government.
“Pakistan will continue to play its honest and sincere role in promoting dialogue and diplomacy towards a peaceful and lasting settlement,” Sharif concluded.
US Vice President Jay D. Vance, presidential envoys Steve Wittkoff and Jared Kushner participated in the negotiations in Switzerland from the American side. The speaker of the Mejlis Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi were part of the Iranian delegation. Pakistan and Qatar announced after the meeting that technical talks would continue in Switzerland this week with the participation of lower-level officials.
