Chairperson of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, Dunyagozel Gulmanova, participated in the first meeting of the Dialogue of Women Leaders of Central Asian States on the topic “Women of Central Asia: Priority Tasks and Joint Actions,” which took place yesterday via videoconference under the leadership of the Parliament of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
According to the Mejlis website, participants discussed organizational work for events planned during Uzbekistan’s chairmanship of the Central Asian Women Leaders’ Dialogue in 2026.
Joint initiatives to ensure gender equality in the region, support women’s participation in public administration and the economy, and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals were also discussed, as well as events to be held throughout the year.
D. Gulmanova noted that, thanks to the efforts of the heads of state of the region’s countries, the Women’s Dialogue has become a permanent platform for holding various events to develop cooperation. It was also noted that the National Action Plan for Gender Equality, which is being successfully implemented in Turkmenistan, is fully consistent with the Dialogue programs and is of great importance in legally strengthening the role of women in public administration and the national economy, improving the legislative framework in this area, and strengthening international cooperation.
The meeting participants focused on improving the national legislative framework to expand women’s socioeconomic opportunities, ensuring women’s access to modern technologies, fostering the exchange of experiences between women in the region through digital technologies and online platforms, and providing benefits to women entrepreneurs.
