The Ministry of Agriculture, in response to what was circulated through some media outlets regarding the Iraqi authorities’ rejection of a shipment of calves coming from Jordan for health reasons, published a confirmation from the Ministry that the shipment referred to is a shipment of calves imported from the Republic of Colombia, which entered Jordanian territory through the transit system, and was not intended for the local Jordanian market.
The Ministry explained, in a post on its social media pages, that the shipment obtained a transit license in accordance with applicable legislation and instructions, and met all conditions and procedures in force for this type of shipment.
She indicated that, according to the instructions and conditions of the transit license, the shipment will not be allowed to be returned to Jordanian territory, noting that the Ministry is following up on the veterinary status of local and transit shipments, in order to ensure the safety and health of the animal and the protection of livestock on Jordanian territory.
