Prime Minister Tariq Rahman has assured all kinds of cooperation to investors interested in reviving the closed and loss-making state-owned factories.
He said, ‘We want you to move forward, prosper. We will help you in all possible ways.’
He gave this assurance while addressing the business leaders at a roadshow organized for local and foreign investors at the Prime Minister’s office in Tezgaon in the capital on Saturday.
Prime Minister’s Deputy Press Secretary Mustafa Zulfikar Hasan said that the Ministry of Industry, Ministry of Textiles and Jute and Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) jointly organized the event. The main objective of the roadshow was to attract investment in revitalizing closed and non-performing factories.
The Prime Minister said that the main responsibility of a political government is to remove obstacles and pave the way to face challenges.
However, he said, it is not possible for the government alone to complete this work. ‘The reality is, we cannot solve all problems together. But it is possible to solve them slowly and systematically,’ he said.
In the context of the discussion that lasted for more than three hours, Tariq Rahman said, ‘I just want to say this, let us all bring change together.’
He said, ‘There are problems, there are challenges. But we also realized that if everyone works together, these obstacles can be overcome.’
In the event, detailed information of 44 factories was presented to business leaders and investors.
The presentation highlighted the location of factories, existing infrastructure, investment incentives, transport-linkage and production expansion potential.
Later the business representatives took part in an open discussion and presented their views and asked around 50 questions. The authorities concerned answered those questions.
