Colombia debuted with victory in the 2026 World Cup after defeating Uzbekistan 3-1. Daniel Muñoz opened the scoring for the South Americans, but Abbosbek Fayzullaev equalized the match in the second half and kept the uncertainty for several minutes.
Luis Díaz returned the advantage to the team led by Néstor Lorenzo with a goal in the 65th minute, while Déiber Campaz sealed the result in stoppage time.
