Gulf News | On the occasion of World Sickle Cell Day… “Gulf News” interviewed the head of the Center for Genetic Blood Diseases, Dr. Fatima Malallah: Modern treatments are a qualitative leap in the treatment of sclerosis, as we move from the stage of controlling symptoms to recovery.

Al-Dhaen explained that the service will be offered in its first phase in a limited experimental format, through a partnership with licensed companies in the Kingdom of Bahrain, and via the Uber platform, in a way that supports the provision of new and diverse transportation options for users in the Kingdom, indicating that the service will be available in specific and carefully selected locations, allowing the level of service to be evaluated and its quality guaranteed before the gradual expansion of the scope of operation.

She added that users will be able to view the areas and places covered by the service directly through the Uber application, which enhances the level of transparency and provides a clear and easy user experience, and reflects the joint efforts between the Ministry and Uber to employ technology in developing transportation services in the Kingdom.

Al-Dhaen explained that the “Uber Black” service, which operates under the supervision and regulation of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, provides an exceptional transportation experience based on luxury and professionalism, through a fleet of luxury cars owned by licensed companies that specialize in renting luxury cars with a driver, stressing that all vehicles are subject to periodic technical inspections approved by the competent authorities, ensuring the highest levels of comfort and safety for passengers.

She stressed that this step comes in line with the Ministry’s strategy aimed at continuing to enhance the quality of services provided to the public, and supporting the adoption of modern technologies and innovation in the transportation sector in the Kingdom.

For his part, Yousef Abu Saif, General Manager of Uber in Bahrain, said: “We are pleased to cooperate with the Ministry of Transport and Communications to launch the Uber Black service on a trial basis in the Kingdom of Bahrain. This step represents an important step in our joint efforts to provide more diverse mobility options that meet the needs of different categories of users, while maintaining the highest standards of quality and reliability. We look forward to working side by side with the Ministry and licensed companies to evaluate the experience and support the development of the transportation sector in the Kingdom.”
