The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) announced that support, psychological and health services have been provided for women deported and returned from Iran so that they can face the challenges caused by forced return and difficult living conditions in Afghanistan.
The United Nations Population Fund has announced that women returning from Iran receive a set of support services and basic needs.
This institution announced in a report on Thursday, 28th of Gemini, that women deported and returned from Iran will have access to psycho-social support services, safe spaces and health packages.
According to this report, these services are provided with the aim of responding to the immediate needs of women and helping them adapt to the conditions after forced return.
The United Nations Population Fund has also emphasized that many returning women face economic problems, lack of basic facilities and difficult living conditions after entering Afghanistan; Issues that have increased their vulnerability and doubled the need for immediate support.
According to this organization, the support packages include essential health items for women, and along with that, counseling services and psychosocial support are also provided to them to reduce the consequences of forced displacement and mental pressure.
UNFPA added that this program is implemented with the financial support of the European Commission’s Civil Protection Directorate and Humanitarian Aid Operations, and its aim is to help women regain stability, maintain human dignity and access essential services in the early stages of return.
Meanwhile, the increase in forced return of immigrants from neighboring countries, especially women and children, has put additional pressure on the limited capacities of Afghanistan’s social and health services. In such circumstances, the continued support of international institutions can play an important role in reducing human injuries and facilitating the process of reintegration of returnees into society.
However, experts believe that emergency aid alone is not enough, and a sustainable solution to the problems of returning women requires long-term employment programs, social support, and wider access to medical and educational services.
