President Daniel Noboa ordered changes in several State portfolios, one of them was Health. The president announced that Dr. Jaime Bernabé Erazo will immediately assume that office.
The Ministry of Health was being led by Vice President María José Pinto, on behalf of the president.

“The new authorities will assume a clear task: push Ecuador, accelerate what works and correct what does not,” Noboa wrote.
Bernabe was medical director and coordinator of Critical Medicine at the Teodoro Maldonado Carbo Specialty Hospital (HTMC). He also assumed the general direction of the Ecuadorian Social Security Institute for 27 days.
He also served as a resident doctor at the Hospital Clínica Miguel H. Alcívar, an intensivist at the Military Hospital of the II Division of the Libertad Army, Head of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Military Hospital, Head of ICU at the University Complex of Guayaquil, and treating ICU doctor at the Enrique C. Sotomayor Gineco-Obstetrics Hospital.
He has a doctorate degree in Medicine and Surgery from the State University of Guayaquil, a degree in Medicine and Surgery from the Ministry of Education and Science, a specialist in Intensive Medicine from the Autonomous University of Madrid-Hospital de Seguridad Social “Doce de Octubre” and also from the Hospital Severo Ochoa Madrid, Spain.
