Temperatures are predicted to soar in France from Wednesday, with forecasters saying that the heatwave could last until the end of the month.
France is predicted to see its second heatwave of the summer starting this week, with Météo France warning of temperatures up to 15C above seasonal norms.
After a hot weekend in the south of France, temperatures will start to climb across the country on Wednesday, forecast to reach 30C across northern France, then climbing to 35C on Thursday and 36C in Paris and the north on Friday.

The south-west will see hotter temperatures, reaching 40C around the Bordeaux area.

Météo France is also predicting ‘tropical nights’ – where the temperature never drops below 20C – for much of the country.
The forecaster said: “It will be more of a classic heatwave linked to a very dynamic south to south-westerly flow. The warm air is expected to move rapidly northwards towards France on the atmospheric current, without necessarily becoming trapped for several days under a closed high-pressure system.”
Storms and thunder are likely towards the end of the week, but will not necessarily break the heatwave. Although predicting temperatures more than a few days in advance is difficult, this heatwave could last until the end of the month.
The heatwave comes just two weeks after France recorded its first ever May heatwave.
