The documentary that wanted to make them heroes turned them into suspects for the Reçak massacre

The footage and the statements of the speakers in an RTS documentary about Reçak constitute the foundation of the prosecution’s suspicion of 5 war crimes suspects. In the file provided by KOHA, it is shown that one of them is the person seen in the documentary kicking the door of a house during the attack in Reçak. His lawyer did not deny this

One of the last people arrested for war crimes in Recak is the person who was shot kicking the door of a house on the day of the crime, claims the Special Prosecutor’s Office.

He is Stanoje Janiqević, who was arrested on Sunday together with four other people, under suspicion of having participated in the massacre where 45 Albanian civilians were killed.

And, in the Prosecution’s request for detention, details are also given on the responsibility of the suspects. In it, it is emphasized that the participation of the suspects in the action, during which the massacre was also carried out, is confirmed by the footage published in a documentary of Radio Television of Serbia, made with the support of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of this country, which exalts the work of the policemen and soldiers of Serbia.

Lubomir Pantović is the lawyer of the suspect Janiqević, and he said that the appearance does not testify to war crimes.

“If it is claimed that there is a well-founded suspicion that Stanoje Janiqević has committed an act, which constitutes a war crime, then it should have been written in this request and not only stated that he kicked the entrance door of the house. The photographs mentioned by the prosecutor, viewed objectively, are not circumstances that prove the well-founded suspicion against my client”, he said.

During the session in which he requested detention for the arrested, special prosecutor Ilir Morina was also served with the statement given in the same documentary by the head of the PJP special units, Goran Radosavlević – Guri, who says that units from different parts of Kosovo participated in the action in Reçak. The Special Prosecution suspects that Novica Peqinović, Stanoje Janiqević, Borko Palić and Slagjan Millisavlević were also part of the PJP and that Stanko Savić was a member of the Police who responded to the Ferizaj police station.

Regarding this claim, the lawyers of the suspects have expressed different positions.

Peqinović’s lawyer told the court that being a member of a unit is not a war crime. Janićević’s lawyer expressed a similar opinion, saying that finding a photo of Serbian police uniforms is not evidence on which the suspicion of war crimes can be based.

Petkovic’s lawyer said that his client should not be taken into custody, on the grounds that the criminal code does not sanction walking in police uniform as a criminal offense.

Meanwhile, Milisavlevic’s lawyer emphasized that her client was a traffic policeman and that there is no evidence to prove the suspicion based on him.

Savic’s lawyer, who said that he was never a policeman, expressed otherwise.
