KOTA KINABALU (April 21): A delegation from the Institution of Engineers Malaysia (IEM) Sabah Branch today paid a courtesy call on Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Noor at Menara Kinabalu.
The primary purpose of the visit was to formally invite the Chief Minister to officiate the IEM 51st Anniversary Dinner as guest of honour on June 13 at the Magellan Sutera Resort.
During the meeting, the delegation also briefed Hajiji on IEM Sabah’s ongoing initiatives and its commitment to supporting the state government’s development agenda under SMJ 2.0.
Emphasis was placed on the role of engineers in driving sustainable infrastructure development, enhancing human capital, and contributing to Sabah’s long-term socio-economic growth.
Hajiji expressed appreciation for the contributions of the engineering fraternity in Sabah and acknowledged the importance of strong collaboration between the government and professional bodies such as IEM.
He also conveyed his support for initiatives aimed at strengthening engineering capacity and promoting innovation in the state.
The courtesy call concluded on a positive note, reinforcing the collaborative relationship between IEM Sabah and the state government, and paving the way for continued engagement in advancing Sabah’s development priorities.
The visit was led by IEM Sabah chairman Datuk Ir Ts Mohd Yaakob Jaafar, accompanied by vice chairman I Ir Ts Tan KJ, vice chairman II Ir Paul Yap, honorary secretary Ir Dr Michael Tay Tshung Wang, immediate past chairman Datuk Ir Willy Chin, organising chairman and committee member Ir Randy Kuan, YES chairman Lee Tze Yei, WE vice chairwoman Ir Nadia Zahirah Abd Rajied, and WE committee member Nur Diyana Hajiji.
