A mast collapsed while a person was up in it, says Greenland Airports.
Greenland’s Airports informs Wednesday at 13.20, that a short time ago an occupational accident occurred in connection with the construction of the new airport in Ilulissat.
The company says that a mast collapsed while a person was up on it. According to Greenland Airports, rescue personnel were alerted immediately and first aid was provided.
But the person was in a critical condition and died shortly afterwards, according to Greenland Airports, which is working to provide psychological crisis assistance to the people who were in the area.
“It is a terribly tragic incident, and I would like to express my deepest condolences to the deceased’s family and relatives,” says project director at Greenland Airports, Christian Andersen, and continues:
“We will now launch a thorough investigation into the sequence of events, so that it becomes clear exactly what went wrong.”
