Two weeks ago, it was announced that Norwegian Crown Princess Mette-Marit had been put on the list for a lung transplant after her health had deteriorated, and now she has undergone the operation.
TV2.no tells about, but the royal palace reported this news in an announcement.
Arnt Fiane, head of the thoracic surgery department at Rikshospitalet, says that so far the lung transplant has been a success.
“We are very happy that everything has gone well so far. Like everyone else who has recently undergone a transplant, the Crown Princess will be admitted to Rikshospitalet for several weeks ahead. This is a regular procedure to adjust drugs, deal with possible complications and carry out rehabilitation,” says Are Holm, head of department at Rikshospitalet’s lung department.
Yesterday, Crown Prince Hákon canceled items on his official program on Tuesday and Wednesday this week.
“His Royal Highness Crown Prince Hákon will make changes to his schedule to be with the Crown Princess this season,” reads a press release from the Royal Palace.
Mette-Marit’s condition, which causes scarring of the lungs, had worsened significantly over the past six months, and her doctors announced on June 5 that the 52-year-old princess had been put on the waiting list for a lung transplant.
