by Iris Venuto The milk journey in Kenya begins at dawn, in the mountains overlooking the Molo river basin, in Nakuru county. Motorbikes loaded with jerry cans travel along dirt roads to collect the milk produced by the farmers in the area. The journey ends at six in the morning, when the engines turn off in front of the Mau Juhudi collection centre, where the milk is prepared to be distributed and sold to the community. Maziwa, which in Swahili means “milk”, is the name chosen for the local entrepreneurship project promoted by the NGO Mani Tese.
