The two-day meeting highlights the Principality’s growing role in promoting sustainable development initiatives within the International Organisation of La Francophonie. One of the key topics under discussion is sustainable tourism, an area in which Monaco has played an active role.
Delegates are reviewing progress made on existing projects while exploring new opportunities to share expertise and best practices among member states. The initiative aims to balance economic development with the protection of cultural and natural heritage, benefiting countries whose economies rely heavily on tourism.
Monaco has supported the IFDD since 2014 and used the meeting to reaffirm its commitment by increasing its financial contribution to the organisation. Discussions are also focusing on the potential role of artificial intelligence in advancing sustainable development goals, including improving environmental management, supporting ecotourism and encouraging more efficient use of resources.
Representatives from the IFDD’s 93 member states are exchanging experiences and innovations that can be adapted across different regions. The talks will continue tomorrow, with the objective of strengthening cooperation and accelerating sustainable transformation throughout the Francophone community.
