    The president of the Guild of Jewelers and Watchmakers of Andorra, Meritxell Marsàdefended the need to strengthen the prevention measures i verification in the sector after the two fake gold jewelry scams detected in gold buying and selling establishments this week at principality. Although he noted that the cases do not directly affect traditional jewelry stores, he explained to the diary that the sector has followed the situation and exchanged information through internal channels. Martian assured that “cmore preventive verification measures must be implemented” before the sophistication of the frauds. He insisted that “zero risk in our profession does not exist” and that the value of the products requires extreme vigilance in all operations.

As he detailed, the guild recommends adapting to new forms of fraud and invest in training and technology. “The market is moving forward and it is becoming more and more difficult, we recommend adapting to the complexity of markets and make the corresponding investment in devices”, he declared.
