The Ministry of Religious Affairs and Endowments announced on Monday evening in a statement that Tuesday, June 16, 2026 AD, is the first of Muharram 1448 AH. Ashura, corresponding to Muharram 10, 1448 AH, will be on Thursday, June 25, 2026 AD.
The Ministry reminded, by the way, that it is Sunnah to fast on the day of Ashura, based on the words of the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace: “Fasting on the day of Ashura I hope that God will atone for the year before it.”
As she called Ministry Zakat payers who wish to pay the Zakat on their money must deposit it in the postal accounts affiliated with it, ensuring its collection and distribution according to their legitimate channels.
For its part, the Saudi Supreme Court announced on Monday that Tuesday, corresponding to June 16, 2026 AD, is the first of the month of Muharram for the year 1448 AH, after the sighting of the crescent of the month was confirmed.
The first of Muharram will be a paid holiday for all employees of public and private institutions and administrations. As confirmed by a joint statement by the Ministry of Labor and the Public Employment Directorate.
