Under the shout of “worthy” and to the applause of those present, he was ordained a Bishop new Metropolitan of Paphos Grigorios in the Cathedral of Apostle Barnabas in Nicosia and this afternoon he is enthroned in Paphos.
The hierarchs who took part in the ordination ceremony, led by Archbishop George, laid their hands on the head of the new Metropolitan, sealing his ordination.
The ordination took place during an archpriestly mass in the presence of Cypriot archpriests as well as a representative of the Ecumenical Patriarchate.

To the Archbishop’s question “what do you believe” the new Metropolitan of Paphos Grigorios read the symbol of faith “I believe in one God…”.
Archbishop George replied:
“The grace of the Holy Spirit is after you.”
He then stated that believes in and accepts the seven ecumenical councils as well as local synods as well as sacred rules and apostolic traditions.

He assured that he recognizes the Holy Synod as the supreme authority of the Church of Cyprus and that he will respect its decisions.
Then the new Metropolitan embraced the hands of all the high priestswho then sit down to watch the rest of the ceremony.

Don’t get carried away Gregory and follow Tychikos warned George
Archbishop Georgios paternalistically fired warning shots at the new Metropolitan of Paphos Grigorios, right after his ordination. After welcoming him with good wishes, he advised him not to follow his predecessor (now on holiday), Metropolitan Tychikos.
Makariotatos also mentioned the following addressing Mr. Grigorios:
“We praise God who in his person restores normalcy in the Holy Metropolis of Paphos which was disturbed by misguided actions of people outside the province and who had managed to involve the former Metropolitan in them.
His qualifications guarantee success in the project you undertake. Although I am convinced that you are fully aware of the responsibilities and the work you are shouldering, I would like to remind you on this glorious day of your life what the Church and the faithful people expect from you.
It is said that it is difficult to perform an acrobatics without vertigo and without victims. Take care that your spirit is not shaken by the vertigo of the height of the splendor and apparent glory of the episcopal throne as it happened to your predecessor.”
His Beatitude also criticized all those who abuse through various social media, citing a limited number of them.
They took a supporter of Tychikos out of the Church – Protests in the Archdiocese and Paphos
According to information, a supporter of Tychikos wanted to shout “unworthy” at the moment of exclamation and, therefore, was removed from the church.
In addition to this and despite the announcement of his supporters on holiday of Metropolitan Tychikos for organizing a protest event, no other parasong has been presented – so far.
It is noted that on the internet supporters of the on-holiday Metropolitan Tychikos react strongly with their posts, while they have also announced the organization of a protest event outside the Archdiocese during the ordination of the new Metropolitan.
However, people who support Mr. Grigorios consider that many of the reactionaries come from Greece, that they are anti-Semitism and that they do not represent the people of Paphos. They also consider that a number of Paphians may disagree with the way Tychikos was removed or accept it with a heavy heart, but the majority of the faithful, feeling the need for the unity of the Church, will accept the new metropolitan.

Until last night, there was chaos on the internet, with people who are alleged to be supporters of the on-holiday Metropolitan Tychikos, attacking with characterizations both the new Metropolitan and Archbishop George himself.

Regarding the event, which is planned to take place outside the Archdiocese, but also outside the Cathedral of Agios Theodoros in Paphos, it is stated that “it is a protest and an objection against the irregular election of the pseudo-metropolitan of Paphos Grigorios, the faithful shouting with one heart and one voice that he is “unworthy”. And the post-invitation for the protest continues: “And if the voice “unworthy” happens to be heard, the ordainer must stop the divine liturgy and ask why he is unworthy and there should be an explanation from the faithful.”

However, at least four buses are preparing for Paphos in order to shout “worthy” to the new Metropolitan.
