Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that he will meet US President Donald Trump within the framework of the “Big Seven” (G7) summit in France. He said that the parties will discuss the initiatives that can serve to end the war in Ukraine and the possibilities of achieving peace.

Zelensky announced this after a telephone conversation with Trump. According to him, the situation at the front, the strengthening of Ukraine’s position and ways to achieve peace were discussed during the conversation.
“We have now discussed the issues that can help to bring peace closer. We agreed to discuss these topics in more detail at the summit,” said the head of Ukraine.
Zelensky’s statedthe security of Ukraine, the country’s defense capabilities and achieving a just peace will be one of the main topics at the meeting. He also expressed gratitude for the US military and political assistance to Ukraine.
“We appreciate every step of support, from Javelin complexes to Patriot systems,” Zelensky said.
During the conversation, the President of Ukraine also congratulated Trump on his 80th birthday. Zelensky assessed the dialogue as a “wonderful conversation” and noted that the parties discussed the causes of the war, diplomatic opportunities and the positions of international partners.
According to him, Trump emphasized that the annexation of Crimea by Russia was the starting point of the whole conflict. Zelensky assessed this opinion as an important political statement.
At the same time, Russian President Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with Donald Trump. According to Yuriy Ushakov, assistant to the head of the Kremlin, the conversation lasted 55 minutes and discussed the international situation, Russia-US relations and the war in Ukraine.
Ushakov said that Trump once again emphasized the need to stop military operations. At the same time, he said that as soon as the war ends, there will be an opportunity to bring the relations between Russia and the USA to a new level.
According to the Kremlin, the situation around Iran was also discussed during the conversation. It was also agreed that special representatives of the US president, Steve Whitkoff and Jared Kushner, will visit Russia soon.
The G7 summit, which will be held in Evian-les-Bains, France, on June 15-17, is expected to discuss the war in Ukraine, international security, energy and the global economy.
