Perpetual Reliquary

Presented in its absolute premiere by OPART/Teatro Nacional de São Carlos at the end of the celebrations of the V Centenary of Luís Vaz de Camões, an opera that governs itself between myth and man, starting from the question “which Camões should we keep and celebrate?”. With music by Luís Tinoco, libretto by Luísa Costa Gomes and direction by Nuno Carinhas, it will be performed by the Portuguese Symphony Orchestra, directed by Joana Carneiro. On June 13th, at 9pm, it takes to the stage at the Cineteatro Louletano (Loulé), in a concert version.
The Joyful History of Portugal in 90 Minutes

Between comics and laughter, almost in a rush, Mauro Toledo’s comedy presents 75 characters who stood out in the History of Portugal. The director was inspired by the collection Happy History of Portugal (Bertrand), where Artur Correia adapts texts from the 19th century. XIX by Manuel Pinheiro Chagas to BD, with a second volume in collaboration with António Gomes de Almeida. From the construction of the kingdom to the constitution of the country and an independent State, there is no shortage of figures such as Viriato, D. Afonso Henriques, D. Afonso III, D. Dinis or D. Sebastião. A production by Teatro Bocage that features performances by André Pardal, José Redondo and Rúben Dias, and narration by Fábio Ventura.
Camões happens
SINTRA Olga Cadaval Cultural Center. June 10th, at 4pm. M/12. 10€
Lídia Franco and Paulo Filipe Monteiro star in the show that was born from the idea that “it is necessary to take Camões out of the books. Say it out loud. Make it happen”, they announce in the synopsis. The journey is based on the lines of a Camões outside of books and boxes, in a more contemporary approach, but also gives space to other poets “who stood on the shoulders of the giant and spoke with him, such as Jorge de Sena, Eugénio de Andrade, Sophia de Mello Breyner, Miguel Torga, Guerra Junqueiro, José Saramago, Manuel Alegre, Jorge Sousa Braga and Ernesto Melo e Castro”.
Sing Together!

From Portugal, the Casa da Música Children’s Choir, led by Raquel Couto. From the United States of America, the St. Louis Children’s Choirs, directed by Alyson Moore and Donna Solverud. Here’s the meeting Sing Together!where two groups of young musicians bring together voices, but also “cultures and sensibilities”, to celebrate the universal language of music.

Porto Legends – Underground Experience

“Below the Customs House, a secret tunnel was discovered that hid a treasure: the most precious legends in the history of the Invicta city…” Thousands of people have already descended on this place to immerse themselves in the myths of Porto and the region, with the historical plot as a backdrop. Narrating the trip is the voice of Oscar-winning Jeremy Irons, in the English version, or, in the Portuguese version, Pedro Abrunhosa. Between the pillars and the vaulted ceiling of the building’s caves, projections of videomappingin a show that “takes on a ghostly dimension” thanks to 20 holographic screens that give visitors “the feeling of being inside the stories”. The guarantee comes from the OCubo studio, which signed the production, with artistic direction by Nuno Maya and guidance from historian Joel Cleto.
