In the historic spaces of the old town, modern circus, theater innovations, live musical improvisation and a powerful 22-voice actor’s choir will come together. The organizers invite you to experience art live, openly and in various locations of the old town.
“Formos” Festival this year invites you to rethink classical literature and traditions through a completely new, modern form. Becoming a part of the program of the Lithuanian capital of culture made it possible to further expand the geography of the event. A concentrated, visual and very dynamic weekend awaits Kėdainiai, where professional creators will explore the limits of human existence, history and art”, says the Kėdainiai Cultural Center, the organizer of the event.
Saturday: From International Comedy to Foot Painting
The opening of the festival will take place on June 6, Saturday, at 19:00. In the courtyard of the Mikalojus Daukšas public library of Kėdainiai district municipality. Here, the international troupe from Estonia “Big Wolf Company” will present the modern folk-comedy “Three sisters”. The performance includes aerial acrobatics, dance and witty humor. Three talented performers will explore the strength of Nordic women, the old traditions of marriage and the role of women in society through movement.
Immediately after that, at 20:00, the action will move to the square in front of Didžioji g. 11, where the artist Adams Stančikas will present a unique performance “Bass garsas”. During the live improvisation of the young students of the Kėdainiai Music School, the creator will dance on the canvas with bare feet, directly creating a unique work of art – a painting – with movement and the rhythm of the music.
Sunday: trampolines according to V. Krevė and musical mystery in the gymnasium
Sunday, June 7, 8:00 p.m. In the courtyard of the Mikalojus Daukša public library, the audience will see one of the most anticipated parts of the program – the contemporary circus and theater performance “Šarūnas” by the “Teatronas” theater, inspired by the classical drama of Vincas Krėvės. In it, the creators combine the national epic and modern performing arts, and visualize the inner conflicts and existential desires of the hero using an acrobatic trampoline.
Festival at 21:00 The Kėdainiai Bright Gymnasium will be crowned with a magnificent musical declamation for 22 voices “The Hunt for Love and Jesus”, which will be performed by the Klaipėda Actors’ Choir. The work, based on the work of the famous Baroque poet Motiejas Kazimier Sarbievijus, made its debut at the Palace of the Lords last year, and the chamber version will be shown in Kėdainiai. The work of the team of Dalius Abaris, the author of the idea, composer Nijolė Sinkevičiūtė, playwright Mindaugas Nastaravičius and director Valentina Masalskis turns the voice into an expressive weapon.
