KUWAIT CITY, June 14: The Public Authority for Manpower (PAM) said it has intensified inspection campaigns to ensure compliance with the ministerial decree banning outdoor work during peak afternoon hours in the summer months.
The authority stated that inspection teams instructed employers to fully comply with the provisions of the decree and provide a work environment that meets occupational safety and health requirements, protecting workers from heat stress and direct sun exposure during prohibited hours.
PAM said the inspection campaign covered several work sites in the Al-Mutlaa area and resulted in the issuance of 23 notices to rectify violations at seven work sites. Inspectors also identified two workers employed under Article 20 of the labor law, prompting the authority to take the necessary legal and administrative measures in accordance with applicable regulations.
The authority stressed that inspection campaigns will continue across various areas throughout the summer ban period and warned that it will not hesitate to take legal action against violators.
PAM noted that compliance with the decree reflects employers’ social and humanitarian responsibility and contributes to enhancing occupational safety and health standards while safeguarding the workforce in Kuwait.
The authority explained that the annual summer work ban prohibits the employment of workers in open workplaces from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. between June 1 and August 31. The measure is aimed at reducing occupational risks associated with harsh summer weather conditions and ensuring a safe working environment for employees.
