As reported by Monaco Matin, the incident occurred at around 8 p.m. on Quai Jean-Charles Rey, near the Port of Fontvieille, as the Principality was winding down from the Monaco Grand Prix weekend.
Emergency services, including Monaco firefighters and the SMUR medical team, responded rapidly to the scene. The victim was treated before being transported to the Princess Grace Hospital Centre (CHPG), where he was admitted in serious condition.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office has opened an investigation into the circumstances of the collision. The case is being examined as one involving involuntary injuries, while investigators work to establish exactly how the accident occurred.
According to Monaco Matin, the driver involved in the collision was taken into police custody as part of the ongoing inquiry.
