Ukraine has significantly intensified its plan to isolate the Russian-occupied Crimea. The commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Robert Brovdi, known by the nickname the Hungarian, told Reuters.
The current campaign of Ukrainian drone attacks on Russian-occupied territories has already disrupted military logistics, especially fuel supplies. The occupation authorities in Crimea therefore according to the agency they had to introduce strict restrictions on the sale of fuel.
Canals estimates that traffic on the route connecting Rostov, Mariupol, Melitopol and Crimea has decreased by more than two-thirds over the past month as a result of the Ukrainian attacks. According to him, Ukraine could have complete control over this road within the next month.
“We will isolate Crimea in the near future,” said Brovdi.
The commander said that Ukrainian troops are also targeting Russian trucks. He compared their destruction to shooting “at partridges in an open field.”
“We will create conditions that will make it extremely difficult for any soldiers or defense industry workers to stay in Crimea, temporarily occupied territories, or use access roads to them,” Brovdi said.
According to him, his subordinates destroyed 174 Russian air defense systems in the first five months of this year, making way for the current drone campaign.
Brovdi said systematic attacks on Russia’s military and industrial complex and oil infrastructure are intended to weaken Moscow’s ability and will to continue the war. At the same time, he emphasized that, according to him, Ukraine has not attacked and will not attack directly the civilian population or civilian targets.
