KUWAIT: Acting Director of the Meteorological Department Dharar Al-Ali forecast that the country will be affected by hot, dry weather and dust-stirring winds with reduced horizontal visibility on Friday, with generally very hot weather during the day and warm weather at night over the weekend.
Speaking to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) on Thursday, Al-Ali said weather maps and numerical models indicate the country is affected by an extension of a surface low-pressure system accompanied by a very hot, dry air mass, raising temperatures, along with light to moderate northwesterly winds that will be active at times — especially on Friday — stirring dust and reducing horizontal visibility over some areas.
He added that today’s daytime weather is very hot, with light to moderate northwesterly winds, active at times, at 12 to 45 km/h, stirring dust over exposed areas. Expected maximum temperatures range between 45 and 47 degrees Celsius, with light to moderate seas, waves rising at times from 2 to 6 feet.
Tonight’s weather will be warm, with light to moderate northwesterly winds at 15 to 35 km/h, minimum temperatures between 28 and 30 degrees Celsius, and light to moderate seas with waves of 2 to 5 feet.
On Friday, daytime weather will be very hot, with moderate to fresh northwesterly winds at 20 to 55 km/h stirring dust. Expected maximum temperatures range between 46 and 48 degrees Celsius, with moderate to rough seas and waves of 3 to 6 feet.
Friday night will be warm with dust gradually settling, and light to moderate northwesterly winds at 12 to 32 km/h. Minimum temperatures are expected between 29 and 31 degrees Celsius, with light to moderate seas and waves of 2 to 4 feet.
As for Saturday, Al-Ali said daytime weather will be very hot, with light to moderate northwesterly winds at 10 to 35 km/h. Expected maximum temperatures range between 46 and 48 degrees Celsius, with light to moderate seas and waves of 2 to 5 feet.
Saturday night will be warm and relatively humid over coastal areas, with northwesterly to variable winds, light to moderate at 8 to 30 km/h. Minimum temperatures are expected between 26 and 28 degrees Celsius, with light to moderate seas and waves of 1 to 3 feet. — KUNA
