After one of the worst seasons in independent Slovenia, Olimpija dispelled the unknowns about who will be its coach. She chose a former Slovenian representative Miša Brečkawho only ten days ago led the Slovenian under-19 team at the tournament in North Macedonia. They could not find a coach at their biggest rival, Maribor.
Sports director of Olympia Nejat Aygün judged that the 42-year-old from Trbovelj is the most suitable man for Olimpija’s return to the Slovenian top and for creating a team and a game that will satisfy the fans’ taste. The main reasons for choosing a local coach were a season with poor results and a new sports policy, according to which a greater role would go to Slovenian footballers. The people of Ljubljana are already watering their throats, because in a week they will start preparations for the new season, which will be special in many ways, since it will be the first since 2015 without matches in Europe. And cheaper!
