Prosecutors yesterday requested a combined prison sentence of 21 years and six months and fines totaling NT$23 million (US$727,434) for Xu Chunying (徐春鶯), who was born in China and former head of the Taiwan People’s Party’s (TPP) New Immigrants Committee.
The New Taipei District Court set the verdict for Aug. 11 following the trial’s final arguments yesterday.
Xu, who was on the TPP’s list of at-large legislator nominees in 2023, is accused of acting under the instructions of Chinese infiltration sources to stump for former Taipei mayoral candidate Vivian Huang (黃珊珊) and former TPP presidential candidate Ko Wen-je (柯文哲).

She was also charged with involvement in illegal underground remittances, loan fraud and assisting infiltration sources to enter Taiwan under false pretenses.
The court yesterday granted Xu bail of NT$2 million, restricted her to her residence and barred her from leaving the country or traveling by sea.
She is prohibited from leaving Taipei and New Taipei City, and was ordered to report to a local police station every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
Prosecutors said they would consider filing an appeal against the bail decision.
They accused Xu of reducing herself to a tool utilized by hostile foreign forces to interfere in the nation’s elections in exchange for resources, using the opportunity to establish herself as a cross-strait intermediary for personal gain.
They sought individual sentences ranging from four years to four years and eight months for these offenses, along with fines ranging from NT$5 million to NT$10 million.
Prosecutors sought a combined sentence of eight years and six months, plus fines totaling NT$9 million, for an alleged accomplice, Chung Ming-chin (鍾明錦), who was charged with two offenses under the Anti-Infiltration Act (反滲透法).
Xu’s daughter, Pu Chi-cheng (卜啓正), is accused of colluding with her mother and others to fraudulently obtain NT$26.97 million in loans.
Prosecutors requested a sentence of two years and six months for Pu.
Another alleged accomplice, Lo Ying (羅穎), faces a requested combined sentence of four years and 10 months for involvement in loan fraud and document forgery.
