KUWAIT CITY, June 11: The Court of Cassation upheld the three-year prison sentence imposed on an Egyptian student at the College of Business Studies for insulting HH the Amir and undermining his status by writing offensive statements on a classroom board, reports Al-Seyassah daily. The case was filed based on a report submitted by the dean of the college, who stated that a student wrote phrases deemed insulting to HH the Amir and the system of governance in Kuwait on a board in one of the classrooms.
The case was referred to the concerned authorities for legal action. Upon receiving the report, the State Security Department opened an investigation, leading to the identification and arrest of the suspect. During the investigation, the accused admitted to committing the act and his confession was documented in the official case records. The Criminal Court sentenced the defendant to three years in prison after finding him guilty of the charges against him. The Court of Appeals upheld the ruling and the Court of Cassation rejected the defendant’s appeal, confirming the sentence as final and enforceable.
