During an interview with ‘La Red de Caracol Televisión’, Margarita Ortega shared details of the recovery she is going through after cervical spine surgery and the changes she has had to implement in her life.
During the conversation, Ortega confessed that he postponed the intervention for more than a decade due to the fear that a procedure of this type generated in him and because, at certain times, the medications managed to partially alleviate his discomfort. “I lasted 10 years and a little more saying no to the operation”he assured.
The presenter explained that she suffered from a degenerative disc disease that progressively deteriorated her state of health; with the passage of time, The problem worsened in the cervical area, to the point of affecting several vertebrae and causing episodes that were increasingly difficult to manage.

According to him, the situation reached a critical level when he began to experience loss of sensitivity in a part of his hand and one of his shoulders. “I was vertebra on top of vertebra and then the pain was very intense”he commented.
Aware of the risks associated with the operation, the presenter decided to leave all her personal affairs organized before entering the operating room. He even prepared a will to ensure that his children had clarity about the fate of the assets he had built over more than three decades of professional career.

“I signed a will of the four things I have in life,” recalled Ortega, who also revealed that he left different daily responsibilities up to date. For her, this gesture represented a way to convey peace of mind to her family in case any complications occurred during the medical procedure.
While being prepared for anesthesia, she expressed her gratitude for life and placed her destiny in God’s hands. “If I come back, then give me a reason to understand what I have to do here. If I don’t come back, I still want you to know that I’m grateful.”he stated.

The surgery required the installation of a titanium implant and, as part of his recovery, Ortega had to modify his diet. “At this moment I am no longer a vegetarian”said the presenter, who left this habit behind after 22 years on medical recommendation.
Although days after the surgery he had to return to the hospital due to some complications, he currently claims to feel much better. “Life has another color, there is another nuance”stated the presenter when referring to this new stage of her life.
