What began as an early morning alleged assaults ended in a bloody scene on the northern boulevard of San Pedro Sula. Javier Enrique Alvarado Dilbert, 29, died from multiple gunshot wounds, while his cousin, Leo Isell Dilbert Grijalba, 18, was seriously injured after being attacked while riding a stolen motorcycle.
The incident occurred near the Honduran Social Security Institute (IHSS), where both young people were intercepted by a man who, according to preliminary investigations, would be the owner of the motorcycle that had been stolen from them minutes before in the Villa Florencia residential area.
According to the information collected by the authorities, the two cousins allegedly stripped a person of his motorcycle and subsequently committed another assault using the same vehicle. When they were about to commit a second robbery, they were overtaken by the owner of the unit, who shot them repeatedly.
Javier Alvarado died at the scene due to the severity of his injuries, while Leo Dilbert was rushed to the Mario Catarino Rivas hospital, where he died.
Several bullet casings, blood stains, a motorcycle helmet and a toy gun that one of the young people was allegedly carrying were left at the scene.
The shooting caused a strong police mobilization and generated traffic congestion for several kilometers in one of the main accesses to San Pedro Sula.
Agents from the Police Investigation Directorate (DPI) carried out the corresponding investigations to clarify the circumstances of the incident and determine the legal responsibilities derived from the case.
