Jabal Akhdar: The 11th session of the Oman-Kuwait Joint Committee was held on Monday in Jabal Akhdar, Al Dakhiliyah Governorate.
The session was held under the chairmanship of Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister and Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al Ahmad Al Sabah, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Kuwait.
During the session, the two sides reviewed the march of the deep-rooted fraternal relations between the Sultanate of Oman and the State of Kuwait, and discussed ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in a number of priority fields to serve common interests. This embodies the aspirations of the wise leaderships of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik and Sheikh Mishal Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah, Emir of the State of Kuwait.
In his speech, Sayyid Badr emphasised that the convening of this session comes in implementation of the supreme directives of the leaderships of the two brotherly countries, calling for deepening bilateral cooperation, particularly in the economic, commercial, cultural, and scientific fields, and exchanging expertise and experiences to achieve greater integration and partnership between the Sultanate of Oman and the State of Kuwait.
He pointed out that the regular convening of the Oman-Kuwait Joint Committee reflects the attention and care it receives from the leaderships of both countries, and embodies the joint commitment to strengthening its role as an effective institutional framework to propel cooperative relations toward more advanced and comprehensive levels.
For his part, Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al Ahmad Al Sabah, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Kuwait, emphasised that the two countries’ celebration this year of the 55th anniversary of Oman-Kuwait diplomatic relations reflects the development and growth these relations have reached at various levels, as an extension of the close and deep-rooted historical bonds, and the common aspirations and characteristics they hold, based on unity of destiny, common goals, and identical visions.
The two ministers also affirmed that Omani-Kuwaiti relations represent a model of sincere fraternal relations among the countries of the GCC due to the deep-rooted historical ties, bonds of appreciation, mutual respect, and the constructive cooperation they are based upon, contributing to supporting the march of joint Gulf action and strengthening the GCC system.
At the conclusion of the committee’s proceedings, Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister and Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al Ahmad Al Sabah, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Kuwait, signed the minutes of the meeting of the 11th session of the Oman-Kuwait Joint Committee.
The two sides also signed a memorandum of understanding between the Government of the Sultanate of Oman and the Government of the State of Kuwait in the field of cybersecurity, and an executive programme in the field of standardisation.
The meeting of the committee was attended from the Omani side by Sheikh Ahmed Hashel Al Maskari, Head of the GCC Department at the Foreign Ministry, Dr. Saleh Amer Al Kharousi, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to the State of Kuwait, and a number of officials at the Foreign Ministry.
From the Kuwaiti side, the meeting was attended by Hamad Rashed Al Marri, Assistant Foreign Minister for GCC Affairs, Dr. Mohammad Nasser Al Hajri, Ambassador of the State of Kuwait to the Sultanate of Oman, and a number of officials at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the State of Kuwait.
