During the outbound flight from Rome to Madrid, as usual, Leo Below, in a translation from Spanish, the words of the Pontiff.
Good morning, good morning everyone!
We are already on Spanish territory, so I greet, first of all, in Spanish, the Spanish journalists who accompany us and all those who are here. Thank you for your service.
As you well know, this is the first trip of a Pope to Spain in a long time, and personally I am very happy to make it. I have come to Spain many times, but now I am the first in this mission: it is an apostolic visit to meet the faithful, celebrate the faith, announce the message of Jesus Christ, but, at the same time, to greet everyone, the whole of society, because the Church has a message for everyone, as you will have seen, I believe, very clearly, in the Encyclical Letter which was published on 25 May.
I therefore hope that it will be a nice journey for everyone, that it will be an opportunity to cultivate a lot of enthusiasm. There are many Catholics: above all I would like to highlight the presence of young people. From what they told me, it seems that there will be a large number of young people with their enthusiasm and I believe that, in this sense, by all sharing the joy of faith, we will be able to give a very beautiful message, a message that in every port where we arrive, so to speak, will have a particular meaning: in Madrid, in Barcelona, in the Canary Islands. Everything happens to live the faith and to announce this message of God’s love, of charity, of respect for every human being. It was a pleasure to greet you: have a good trip!
