In conjunction with its celebration of the eleventh anniversary of its founding, the Arabcom International Volunteer Group launched a national campaign entitled “Green Homeland.” Karak Governorate was chosen as the first station for the celebration and implementation of the campaign, as it is the first incubator for the group that provides its services in Jordan and several Arab countries to help local communities.
The head of Arabcom, Engineer Laith Al-Majali, said at the ceremony held at the Silver Jubilee Center in the town of Murud, one of Arabcom’s projects in Karak, that the announcement of the national campaign, which was launched in front of the northern gate of Mutah University, came in implementation of the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II to expand the green area and enhance the environmental situation through the transition towards a green Jordan.
He stated that the Arabcom Group, which was established under the guidance and blessing of the Crown Prince, is performing its role by promoting the values of belonging and loyalty to the homeland and the wise Hashemite leadership and is working to serve the local community in its various categories, instilling the values of good citizenship, promoting service partnerships, and developing the spirit of initiative to develop social solidarity among young people, in addition to promoting an Arab volunteer culture with a humanitarian service dimension.
Al-Majali presented the campaign’s work mechanisms, which will begin by planting the entrances to homes, public sites, roadsides, and central islands according to an organized and effective participatory methodology between field and volunteer teams covering various regions of the Kingdom, in a way that enhances the success of the campaign’s objectives in increasing green spaces and preserving their sustainability, leading to building a community culture aware of the importance of the environment, and enhancing the spirit of volunteer work and integration between civil society institutions and supporting bodies.
